My mother loved jewelry. She spent hours poring over catalogs and
sales lists of loose stones and finished pieces. A professional
haggler, jewelry and stones went back and forth between dealers and
mom until they cried “uncle” and conceded her price.
Vacations and traveling were about finding the best
off-the-beaten-path estate jewelers in the area. She would find a
piece she wanted and would begin the letter-writing campaign as soon
as she returned home. Eventually the item would be shipped to her,
and she would love it.
I would love it, too. I shared her enthusiasm for and love of
beautiful jewelry. The jewelry gene cannot be denied. Even my sister
and niece share in it.
When my horseshoeing business was curtailed due to back issues, it
was a natural progression for me to transfer from blacksmithing to
metalsmithing. And, boy, have I found my calling!
Silver and Gold and Gems…. Oh My!
I personally design and handcraft each piece. I use only the finest
quality precious metals and stones I can find. Each is
one-of-a-kind, a unique expression, made with integrity and care.
The possibilities are endless. I am awestruck by the ideas that want
to become jewelry. Sometimes I wonder where to start, so I’ll start
with one, and that leads to another and we’ll see where it goes. I
invite you to come with me on my journey of jewelry.
“Remember, life is not about the destination; it’s about jewelry.”
