Artist Bio: Sarah Hunt Engsberg

I was born in Thomas Jefferson’s Charlottesville, Virginia, raised
in eastern North Carolina, and educated at The University of The
South in Sewanee, Tennessee. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1986
and have been married to Towson Paul Engsberg since 1987. We live on
a horse farm along the banks of the Chattahoochee River with our
dogs, barn cats, horses, and an exciting array of wildlife.
After a very short time in the corporate world, to which I
discovered I was not suited, I have been a professional farrier for
17 years. In February of 2005, a back injury led me to restructure
my life, and I have since been happily translating my blacksmithing
skills to jewelry fabrication.

integrity and have fun doing it. My
mother gave me a love of all things beautiful, especially jewelry.
My
father gave me a curious mind. From him
I learned that anything is possible and that I can achieve whatever
I set my mind and energy
to. I was lucky to be the last child, coming along when he had the
time and resources to spend with me one-on-one. He never treated me
like a “girl,” just a daughter, who could sail, ski, ride a horse,
or anything else as long as I made the commitment to the education
and took the time and care to do it well.

high and falling short but in setting our aim too low and achieving
our mark.” -Michelangelo
